AdVenture Capitalist is a simple puzzle game that asks one of life's most basic questions. What do you do when life gives you lemons?
The answer, apparently, is that you become a multimillionaire. This game is highly addictive since it plays on the most basic desire of man, and that is to amass as much wealth as possible using as little as possible.
The game starts easily enough. The player begins owning a single lemon. With a simple click, the player squeezes that lemon and sells the juice. With the money from the sale, the player can then buy more lemons, leading to even greater profit.
After you've sold enough lemonade, you'll buy another lemonade stand, and then another. With a few more easy clicks, you'll hire an employee to be in charge of the lemon-squeezing. Eventually, you'll buy a pizza shop. Once that has taken off, you'll use the profits to buy an oil plant. This is almost the exact same realistic path that every lemonade stand owner takes.
Beyond the simple clicks required to keep the game moving, there isn't much else required from the player. The game is always being updated with new elements, but all that really does is change the path the player must take to reach more wealth. The game even continues to amass wealth while the player isn't playing. It takes no time and very little effort to become a multimillionaire in this game.
The fun part of the game is that it is so easy that players don't want to stop until they reach the end, if it even exists. When players see how easy it is to gain wealth, hire new employees, find new investors, grow more businesses, earn higher profits, and progress further through the game, they will want and need to keep going.
The operating screen for the game shows all the most important pieces of information, and it is where the majority of the action takes places. The screen shows how much profit each business earns, the expansion cost of each business, and the time each action takes to complete. There are also secondary screens that allow for further customization, like the assistant-hiring screen or the balance screen for those who want to see just how rich they really are in the game.
AdVenture Capitalist is a different type of addictive that is almost similar to wanting to finish a television program or movie. The plot of the game is just as interesting as the game itself, and it is a fun way to burn through some free time.
So to answer the age old question of what should be done when life gives you lemon, the solution is simple. You squeeze those lemons, make lemonade, and profit. The game is a rather dumbed down version of capitalism, but the ideas are basically the same.
